PAINTINGS
Susan Dunklau
Susan has been interested in drawing and painting her entire life. She graduated from CSU, Long Beach and has attended workshops with/from the following artists, Adele Earnshaw, Joe Garcia, Susan Bourdet, Joyce Faulkner and Dale Laitinen. Susan used her art degree, her additional art exposure and teaching credentials to teach middle school art for several years.
Her watercolor art is inspired by personal experiences. Amazingly, the colors are both bright and cheerful while her compositions provide a sense of calm. The stories her paintings tell are depicted not only through their subject matter, but also through her unique use of color, light and shadows. Susan often adds movement to her compositions, providing additional interest. She uses that movement in a variety of ways. It can be shown as a jelly fish lightly floating in water, a crashing wave, water lilies floating on a pond, or a horse running. She also uses movement to direct the viewer’s attention, such as following a pattern of sunlight within a blossom. She also adds additional interest to compositions by playing light against dark along with her unique colors. |
