Sidney Angel Richardson
Born in San Francisco, Sidney Angel Richardson traveled home to Carmel Highlands in the true style of the 1950's, sleeping in a cozy, cardboard box, on the back seat of her parents' old mustard yellow Rambler. Sidney was the first of five children, raised in a house of chaos and independent thinkers. She found solace in nature, and, although emotions at home ran high most of the time, it was a home where education, politics, music, and the arts were of great importance. These were the topics in the living rooms, among family and friends, and at the parties and events in Carmel Highlands and Big Sur, from the late 50's, through the 60's and 70's. Paintings by this artist are infused with light -catching colors and shapes, both bold and delicate. Her three preferred mediums are oils, acrylics and water colors. Her thoughtful compositions reflect a variety of subjects found at home and abroad, including stills of fruits, vegetables, flowers, as well as plein aire. Between trips she is an avid gardener, and continues to paint, cook, and enjoy life's activities with family, friends, and fellow artists in the Salinas Valley and on the beautiful Monterey Peninsula, the place she has always called home. |
