Lyla majored in art during high school. Years later, her daughter gifted Lyla a large stash of studio supplies, which awakened her passion for painting. Numerous artist workshops sharpened her skills and she has now been a popular artist at the Valley Art Gallery for 6 years.
Many artists consider painting a difficult process, but Lyla paints to relax.
In addition to the usual ways artists find inspiration, Lyla frequently visualizes subjects by reading. Whether it’s an article or a novel, compelling images present themselves, or they prompt further research into artistic subjects. Her subjects are diverse, but she enjoys the challenge of doing still life scenes that include difficult-to-paint lace and/or silver objects.
Other hobbies include cooking for special occasions and special unusual projects.
