Jewelry designer and artist Carol Kent grew up surrounded by artistic expression. American art luminaries Eliot O’Hara, Rex Brandt, Millard Sheets and Jane Burnham influenced Carol from a young age. While Carol started her career as a watercolor artist, the transition to jewelry design was natural for Carol and her love of color, texture and personal style. Her jewelry brought accolades and she has been honing her craft as a jewelry-maker ever since.
Carol loves the tactile nature of jewelry design, relishing the “hands-on” nature of her work. The use of semi-precious stones, coins and wire combine for an original and singular look. The quest for unique stones adds an extra layer of excitement and challenge to the process. The interplay between stones—such as topaz, citrine, amethyst, and a variety of agates and jaspers—and the beading makes each piece a statement.
Moving fluidly from ancient to contemporary themes, Carol is involved with each stage of each piece of jewelry. Each piece is hand crafted and hand painted or glazed individually. The stones and the beading used are chosen for color, style, and uniqueness. “I make and design all the jewelry myself. Each piece is a joy for me to share with others.”
